Making a Referral

How to Refer a Child or Young Person

Before making a referral we ask that all professionals have followed their own organisational safeguarding procedures and have reported to relevant professionals such as police & social care.

  • Call our 24/7 helpline on 0800 183 0023.
  • Our team will discuss the case and arrange an appointment.
  • We will liaise with police, social care, and other agencies where necessary.
  • A strategy discussion may be required before an appointment to ensure a multi-agency approach to safeguarding.
  • If you are unsure whether to refer, call us for advice.
  • Children and young people can call us directly for advice and support.

  • The medical examiner will discuss the plan of care with the child/young person, parents/guardians as appropriate.
