Reaching Out for Support

It’s normal to feel unsure about what to say. Our team is here to listen, guide you through your options, and support you at your pace.

What to Say When You Call

It is okay if you don’t know what to say when you first call. You can start with:

  • Something has happened to me; I need some help.
  • Can I ask how you might support me?
  • Can I make a self-referral?

Our Crisis Support Workers understand that you might feel nervous. They will go at your pace, and if talking feels difficult, you can ask them to start by asking you questions instead.

What Happens Next?

We will listen and explain your options so you can decide what happens next. If you need a medical examination, we will arrange one at one of our centres.

We can connect you with specialist services if you need emotional or practical support. You can choose what you do and don’t want to happen. Nothing will be done without you understanding.

Before Your Appointment

If you were asked not to eat, drink, or wash, don’t worry—your comfort is the most important thing, and you can still attend your appointment. Your visit may last 2 to 5 hours, depending on the support you need. You may want to bring comfortable clothes to change into. Please avoid arriving early as we prepare the space to ensure privacy and comfort. If you will be late, let us know.

You can bring a trusted adult, family member, or friend for support.

What If I Change My Mind?

It is okay if you feel unsure about your appointment. You can call us to talk through any worries or reschedule if needed.

Getting Support

If you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted, support is available. Whether it happened recently or long ago, we are here to help.
